If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen some of the photos and videos from the wedding we attended on Friday. I LOVE all weddings, but I’ll admit I was extra excited for this one because I got to contribute in a really fun way.

Our friends Mary and Mike (the newlyweds!) asked me to create 17 custom illustrations to be used as table cards at the reception. They each feature a different music venue in the Los Angeles area where they’ve seen a show together (what a fun idea, right?). When we started working on them, the only direction they gave me was “think strong lines and fun colors! We’d love for you to be creative.”

This is one of my favorite projects to date – it all came together so effortlessly, and I genuinely enjoyed creating every single piece (thanks Mary and Mike!). Now I get to share it with you! I’ll be posting some more images on Instagram over the next couple weeks under the hashtag #VenuesInColor, follow along @roymeister if you’d like to see!

In addition to just showing you what we put together, I’ve also made every print in this series available as a poster in my brand new Society6 shop. You can see and purchase them all right here.

And here are a few quick photos I snapped at the wedding!

Which one is your favorite? Have you ever been to a show at any of these venues? Let me know!

And don’t forget to shop them all, here!

Ana and Eric’s Wedding

PHEW! We survived our double wedding weekend!

Since I’m still alive, I thought I’d share some of the pieces I helped create for Ana and Eric’s celebration this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day, fit for two beautiful friends! Ana was kind enough to think of me during the planning process, and we worked together to create their seating chart, bar sign, ceremony program, reception program, and the “sign our guestbook” poster. (Some text and names have been removed from the images below, to protect the privacy of those involved.)

They even had a cute little crossword puzzle inside their reception programs! The clues and answers all had to do with their relationship. We put the dinner menu and special thank-you’s on the outside (pictured below).

There you have it! A big, heartfelt congratulations to Ana and Eric! I hope you both enjoyed your day as much as I did. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of it.

This Week: To Do List

This week was focused on new orders and projects, and the preparation that comes before diving into all of it. I didn’t really get my hands dirty, but boy do I have a long list of stuff to work on next week!

Part of that planning involved getting a fresh batch of prints. I’ll let you know when and where you can get one when the time comes. For now, this print is available in my shop.

Even this map I painted is related to a upcoming project. I’m hoping to be able to give more details in the next week or two. Stay tuned!

First on my to-do-list: a double wedding weekend! We’ve got one tonight, and one tomorrow. Hoping to make it through in one piece…wish me luck!

Happy weekend!

This Week: Custom Gifts

If you’ve visited my shop, you already know that I take custom orders for watercolor and gold map paintings. This week, we took it a step further: double custom!

I was asked to create a wedding gift for a couple, one of whom is from Minnesota and the other from Massachusetts, in the style of my map paintings. The client wanted to include the couples’ names as well, so I got to break out my brush and gold paint. My fav!

I also received an order for custom teacher gifts in this same style. Instead of including a state, the focus of the painting is the teacher’s name. They’ll be able to use it as a door or desk sign, to identify it as their classroom. Pretty cool, right?

What week would be complete without another map!? This time, it’s Cape Cod and the islands:

To round things out, I was invited to be a part of Garlic, My Soul and Farmhouse38‘s annual Summer Solstice Feast, an event for bloggers, cooks, and creators celebrating food, flowers, and art. I’m working on an invitation, it’s not quite done yet but here’s a peek at some of the floral illustrations I started this week:

To summarize:

1) If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind, totally unique, end-of-year gift for teachers, graduates, lovebirds tying the knot, father’s day, or anything else coming up in your life, hit me up! Send me a message with the details of what you have in mind by clicking “Contact” over to your left and I’ll get you a quote.

2) If you’re hosting a party and let me come sample all the treats, I will design you an invitation in exchange.

The end. Happy weekend!
